Bob Day AO – Lead Senate Candidate
The contribution of Bob Day to the Australian community extends far beyond his business interests as one of Australia’s leading home builders. His strong interest in youth employment, homelessness, urban planning, federalism and industrial relations has been reflected in a wide range of appointments which include:
• National President of the Housing Industry Association
• Inaugural President of Independent Contractors of Australia
• Member of the National Work for the Dole Advisory Committee
• Chairman of North East Vocational College
• Chairman of The Great Australian Dream Project
• Founder of nationbuild.com
On Australia Day 2003 he was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia for service to the housing industry, to social welfare - particularly housing the homeless – and to the community. Later that same year he was awarded the Centenary of Federation medal for service to housing and charity. In 2005 he was awarded the inaugural Pride of Australia medal for ‘Community Spirit’ for restoring the
village of Houghton and creating the Soldiers Memorial Walk
and Remembrance Wall.
Bob’s company, Home Australia owns some of the housing industry’s best known brand names including Homestead Homes in SA.
In November 2008, Bob was elected Federal Chairman of
Family First and in April, 2009 was pre-selected as the Lead
Senate Candidate for Family First for the 2010 Federal election.
Bob and his wife Bronte have been married for 29 years and
they have three children, John 22, Stephen 20 and Joanna 18. |

Thea Hennessey LLB (Hons) – Senate Candidate
Thea completed her Bachelor of Law in WA but has lived in
Adelaide for the past 20 years. Thea worked in private legal
practice for eight years and then as a policy advisor for
two years. Thea has been married to Mark for nine years
and they have four children. |

Andrew Cole MBA – Senate Candidate
Andrew is a Senior Systems Analyst. He completed a
Bachelor of Commerce in 1996. He served as a Ward
Councillor (City of Marion) from 2003-2006.
Andrew has been married to Janet for
twenty-two years and they have three children. |

ADELAIDE - Sue Neal
Sue is self-employed and currently a student with two adult children and two grand-daughters.
Sue has a passion for social justice and would like to see a renewed focus on child protection, policing child sex crimes and immediate effective treatment for victims. |

BARKER – Trevor Honeychurch
Trevor is a Murray Bridge resident and he and his wife Gaye have been married for 32 years. They have three children.
Trevor works as a Technical Services Representative with a water treatment company. He has a degree in Aquaculture and was a lay pastor with the Uniting Church for six years.
He has a passion for the River Murray and is extremely worried about salinity. Volunteering on the Mannum-Wellington Local Action Group in the past, Trevor has witnessed first-hand the devastating effect of rising salinity and poor water management. |

BOOTHBY – Meredith Resce
Meredith was brought up in the rural community of Melrose.
Her family has been South Australian from the time of the
early settlers.
Meredith came to Adelaide in 1981, where she met her
husband Nick. They were married in 1983, and
have three children aged 23, 21, and 17.
Meredith has served with her husband Nick in various roles
of Christian ministry from 1983 to present, involving a
six-year period of service in Geelong, Victoria. During this
time, Meredith studied a certificate course in psychology,
and used this knowledge to help develop a self-help/support
group for women within the church structure.
However, Meredith’s primary role over the last 23 years has
been that of Director of Domestic Affairs (wife and mother!).
She has been actively involved with her children’s schools
in the areas of sport and music.
In 1991, Meredith began to take up writing as a hobby.
In 1997, she published her first novel, which has been
reprinted four times, and is now available in both the
UK and the USA. She now has ten of her own titles
on the market. Initially, she self-published, and has built
up a small publishing business.
In 2001, Meredith became associated with a local film
producer, and has been working as Assistant
Screenwriter and Associate Producer on a feature film
production, which is being released this year. |

GREY – Sylvia Holland
Sylvia is a Melrose resident, married and working as a carer
support worker based in Port Augusta but outreaching
throughout the Stuart electorate.
Sylvia’s major concerns in Grey are
(1) For the marginalised who are in need of care but cannot
get, or do not know of, support services that are available
to them;
(2) For Labor to be held to account for failing to provide the
promised water security for the State’s North; and
(3) Ensuring country hospitals remain open and are improved
instead of downgraded under the Government’s Country Health Plan. |

HINDMARSH – Bob Randall
Bob is a business development manager in the finance industry, a former member of the Parliament in South Australia’s House of Assembly, Councillor, Alderman, Mayor and ministerial staffer.
Bob is a great advocate for those who need help dealing with government bureaucracy. |

KINGSTON – Geoff Doecke
Geoff is married with two children and has lived predominantly in Adelaide’s South all of his life. He worked for a long time with a major telecommunications company, then studied social work and has worked in various factories during term breaks.
Geoff is passionate about South Australia, Adelaide’s South and giving a voice to the voiceless – the children, the elderly, disabled and disadvantaged who are missing out in this State despite the rivers of gold of the GST. For instance he wants a dedicated domestic violence intervention program in the South modelled on the successful program in Adelaide’s northern suburbs. |

MAKIN – Mark Potter
Mark is an electrical engineer, musician, and Golden Grove resident. He and his wife Judi have two children.
Mark wants to see the families of Makin better supported as they provide high levels of unpaid child care and should be able to receive Government support for that care. Family First also supports Out-of-Hours School Care, freedom of choice in education and the right for faith-based schools to recruit staff that support the values and beliefs of their school. |

MAYO – Bruce Hicks
Bruce has lived in the South and South East of South Australia for many years. He owned and operated a small mixed country
business and has been a dairy farmer. He is now a teacher holding the position of Asst Principal of Murraylands Christian College
in Strathalbyn. Bruce and his wife Melita have been married for 36 years and they have six children. They established a local youth
group in Mt Compass and are leading advocates for young people. Bruce has been involved in a number of business, community
and sporting organisations.
Bruce wants to see more road safety and infrastructure initiatives in the South including duplication of the Victor Harbor Road, a better deal with committed recurrent funding for Kangaroo Island’s road network and campaigning for major improvements to Victor Harbor Hospital to accommodate the anticipated major growth in population on the Fleurieu Peninsula. |

PORT ADELAIDE – Bruce Hambour
Bruce is a company director of his own transport company and chairman of the influential Le Fevre Action Group. He was
the second oldest of ten children, is married with two children
and served for 20 years in the Navy receiving 9 medals for
service in Vietnam, Malaysia and Borneo. He is a member
of the Port Adelaide Power and Magpies Football Clubs.
Bruce’s key issues in his campaign to be the member for
Port Adelaide are
(1) More investment in invigorating the Port,
(2) Building on and preserving the electorate’s immigration,
Aboriginal and industrial heritage and
(3) Preserving the heritage aspects including preservation of
the Falie and Nelcebee ketches via public display, as well as maintenance of the wharf areas and current buildings as
beacons of heritage and tourist attractions. |

STURT – Dale Clegg
Dale is a Tea Tree Gully councillor and former Federal Police
sergeant.
Dale is married to Kate and they have two children. |

WAKEFIELD – Paul Coombe
Paul is a moulder & core maker who has worked in foundries as well as in administrative roles in the public service. Paul has been married for 30 years and has four sons and one grandchild. Paul was Family First’s candidate for Wakefield in the 2010 State Election.
Paul’s two major concerns in Wakefield are
(1) Job security, stress and a struggle to maintain a work life balance; and
(2) Crime gangs and a crime rate growing out of control with police finding it difficult to cope. |
